Meaning of the following terms:

1 Pitch Sentence - It is a one sentence description of the plot.

Logline - It is the entire story condensed into a single sentence. This is used to give a basic summary of the story so it will make viewers excited about the story.

Synopsis - It is when you tell or give out a short summary of each chapter or scene of a particular tv episode or novel etc.

Character Bio - An analysis of a certain character including many information to help make viewers familiar with them.

Storyline - It refers to the Plot or Sub Plot of a story.


Scene Breakdown - It is the play/movie/novel structured into a series of formal scenes in changing locations and time periods. Very useful to help make complicated time structures clear to the viewers.


Beats - A unit of a scene in a story where there is an exchange between the characters and the action.

Plots/Sub Plots - A Plot is defined as events that make up a story, particularly as they relate to one another in a pattern be it in a sequence, through causes and effects or by coincidence.

A Sub Plot is a secondary plot strand that is a supporting side story for any story or the main plot.


Turning Points - A story with a turning point is about an experience or event that changes a character's life in a significant way.


Climax - It is the most exciting and the most important part of a story.


Script - It refers to the dialogue and instructions for a play or film etc.

Hook - It is something used in a story that draws the reader in to make them more engage into the story.


Motive - The driving force behind the plot structure of all stories is the motive(s) if the character(s). It determines the events,plot and outcome of a story.


Conflict - It is necessity in any form of storytelling, it is what makes the story exciting. A story dose not end until the conflict is solved.


Dramatic Sequence - A dramatic sequence is used to make the audience feel what the scriptwriter wants them to feel.


Resolution - It is the end of the story that occurs after the climax. It is what the audience learn what happens to the characters after the conflict is solved.


Outcome - It is the conclusion in which all the components of a story is tied together, ranging from simple to complex of unraveling the truth of their existence.
